AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA TO THE REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA

H.E. Mr. Kwabena Okubi-Appiah (Sqn Ldr. Rtd.), a career diplomat was appointed by His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to the Republic of Liberia in June, 2021. He began his Public Service with the Ghana Air Force and rose through the ranks and retired from the Service with the rank of Squadron Leader. He then began his diplomatic career as Assistant Director I, Economic, Trade and Investment Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ghana. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador, he served in the following capacities: Director, Middle East Bureau, (2019- 2021), Deputy High Commissioner, Ghana High Commission, Lusaka-Zambia (2016-2019), Consul General, Ghana Consulate General, Lagos, Nigeria (2015-2016), Director, Americas Bureau (2013-2015), Minister-Counsellor, Head of Chancery, Ghana Embassy Tehran, The Islamic Republic of Iran (2008), Minister Counsellor, Head of Chancery Ghana Embassy, Prague, The Czech Republic (2006). Amb. Kwabena Okubi-Appiah holds Masters in Business Administration (MBA) - University of Ghana, Legon, BA (Hons) Economics and Geography, Dip. Education - University of Cape Coast, Chartered Member, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) - United Kingdom, Fellow, BOARDROOM Institute, Graduate School of Governance and Leadership-Accra, Ghana, LLB (Hons), University of London - U.K. and P.G. Cert Laws, University of London – UK and also attended many International seminars/conferences across ECOWAS, African Union, and United Nations. He is a certified Auctioneer; Among honours/awards received were ECOMOG award in Monrovia, Liberia in March, 1992 and United Nations Military Assistant to Rwanda (UNAMIR) honour, in January, 1995 (Military Observer). Amb. Kwabena Okubi-Appiah has a wide knowledge in Security, Peace Support Operation, Conflict Resolution, Administration/Management, Procurement, Logistics Management and Finance. Amb. Okubi-Appiah is a proud member of the following associations: - Member, Ghana Red Cross Society - Member, Ghana Wildlife Association, Legon Branch - Member, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, U.K. - Member, Veterans Association of Ghana - Member, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (Student) - Member, Ghana Auctioneers Association. He is a lover of sports in general, spend time with children and the vulnerable, embarks on adventure trips and listens to music especially reggae and highlife. H.E. Okubi-Appiah has working knowledge in French and Spanish. Ambassador Kwabena Okubi-Appiah is married to Ms. Elizabeth Johnson and are blessed with four (4) children.
