H.E. MR. GODWIN BALETUM AMONZEM

AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA TO THE REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA

His Excellency Mr. Godwin Baletum Amonzem, LLM, LLB, MA, BA, a Diplomat, Public Servant was Commissioned by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, on 4th September, 2025 as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to the Republic of Liberia. H.E. Amonzem is a Foreign Service Officer with over twenty-six (26) years of work experience in various Bureaux and Embassies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador, he served as the Deputy Head of Mission at Ghana’s High Commission in Harare, Zimbabwe from July 2022 to August, 2025. He previously served as Director for Candidatures Unit and Diaspora Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his career, he served at Ghana’s High Commission in New Delhi, India, Ghana’s Embassy in Moscow, Russia, and Ghana’s Embassy to the Holy See, Vatican City. His assigned work schedule in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs offered him the opportunity to work in Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Bureau, Economic Trade and Investments Bureau, Americas Bureau, Inspectorate and Internal Audit, Africa and Regional Integration Bureau as well as the Protocol Bureau. He also served in various capacities including rendering special duties at the Office of the Vice President. H.E Godwin Baletum Amonzem holds the following academic qualifications: PhD Candidate, Zimbabwe Open University, Harare from June 2023 till date; LLM (General), Harare, 2022-2023; LLB University of Delhi, India, 2005-2008; M.A. International Affairs, Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, 2002-2003; B.A. Philosophy and Russian Language, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra,1990-1994. Other Training Courses he attended includes: Round Table Conference on Regionalism and Integration in West Africa: The Way Forward. Accra, Ghana, (1999); Techniques of Negotiations for Diplomats, Ho, Ghana, 2003, UNCA Training Workshop on Regional Integration for the Staff of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Accra, 2016; Pilot Specialised Course on Countering Terrorism in Africa, 2016; Experts' Meeting on the Review of the ECOWAS Staff Regulations 2016; and Executive Courses in Security Studies and Diplomacy in the Modern World, 2024, Zimbabwe Open University, Harare H.E Godwin Baletum Amonzem enjoys research work, reading and loves to travel during his leisure times. He is fluent in English, Russian, Hausa, Twi, and adequate in French Languages. He is married with three (3) children.
